Chapter 27

First stop, butter.

Butter sculpting began in the late 1870's in the midwest, and was quickly adopted by dairy farmers for advertising purposes.

Everything converged here in the refrigerated butter section.

First there were cows. Then there were farmers. Then there was butter. Then there were corporations. Then there were butter knives. Then there were nonstick pans. Then there were county fairs. Then there were butter exhibits. Then there were butter sculptors. Then there was a boy. Then there was a girl. Then there was an 8-foot Marilyn Monroe in bovine yellow. Then there was a stalker. Then there was a terrorist. Then there was a father. Then there was a nephew. Then there was a fan. A hundred fans.

Then there was chaos.

But it didn't come yet.

It was slow, like sculpting butter.
